This past fall I had the privilege of listening to Joan Bauer read the opening chapter of her unpublished new novel, Tell Me. Joan, a Newbery Honor Medalist and author of 11 other young adult novels, always writes characters who make you smile, cry, ask life questions, and find hope for the future. Mary, I also enjoyed hearing Joan Bauer read from her unpublished novel and I was so inspired to hear her speak about her writing process. Stand Tall was definitely one of my favorite young adult novels in that class. Looking forward to this next book!

Mary, What a great author to follow! Thank you so much for the update and the link to Joan Bauer's latest book. I have recently been hooked on to Joan Bauer's writing. I find her characters facing difficult circumstances in life, but showing grit and determination to meet the challenges they face. Her message of hope is a theme that runs through her stories and steals my heart every time.
